Warning: by Jenny Joseph

When I am an old woman I shaw wear purple
With a red hat which doesn’t go, and doesn’t suit me,

And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves

And satin sandals, and say we’ve no money for butter.

I shall sit down on the pavement when I’m tired

And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells

And run my stick along the public railings

And make up for the sobriety of my youth.

I shall go out in my slippers in the rain

And pick the flowers in other people’s gardens

And learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow mor e fat

And eat three pounds of sausages at a go

Or only bread and pickle for a week

And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry

And pay our rent and not swear in the street

And set a good example for the children.

We will have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practise a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old and start to wear purple.

He redeemed my soul from going down to the pit, and I will live to enjoy the light.

mymidnightneverland:

My life flows on in endless song;
Above earth’s lamentation
I hear the sweet though far off hymn
That hails a new creation:
Through all the tumult and the strife
I hear the music ringing;
It finds an echo in my soul—
How can I keep from singing?

What though my joys and comforts die?
The Lord my…

  • Me: Dad has ten times the amount of trophies Krissy.
  • Kristin: Yeah, I know, and then he keeps them all down in the garage. Some of them are broken anyways.
  • (Me: Mhm)
  • Kristin: (continuing) You know... sometimes I think about taking some of them up here to our room. When my friends come over I would be like, "And I won THIS one in 1983 for the...uh...long jump."

What's your favorite book?

Interesting question (haha). :)
This book called the Hero and the Crown. A couple years ago some books were being thrown out at school and my teacher told me she thought I should take one, because the main character made her think of me. The Hero and the Crown was the pre-quel to this book and the story swallowed me whole. I swear I felt like a dragon fighter (part of the story) for the next whole week. :)
